Canberra Inventors’ Association Inc Jul 92 – Nov 98
President / Public Officer
I founded the Canberra Inventors Association in 1992 after identifying that there was a complete lack of organisations or service providers that could provide real help to those wishing to commercialise innovative projects.
I ran the organisation as its President and Public Officer for over 6 years, which soon after its inception became a full time occupation of very long days, 7 days a week. This work involved providing protection, direction and assistance to our members and to hundreds of people who contacted us for help each year. It also involved the raising of research and development funding of which I was able to raise over $30 million dollars for members and their projects.
We soon became recognised as a national peak body amongst industry leaders (state associations and IP Australia), providing full time, work hour assistance and support.
During this time I also gave talks and lectures to a wide range of groups and organisations including school, CSIRO, community groups and to staff at IP Australia to help supplement the costs of running the organisation. Tasks and responsibilities undertaken by me whilst in this position included:
-
Chairmanship of meetings.
-
Communications and contract negotiation.
-

-
